CHEP choose Basware Connectivity Services for E-invoicing
14th June 2010 - CHEP is the global leader in pallet and container pooling services serving many of the World's largest companies.
CHEP issues, collects, conditions and reissues more than 300 million pallets and containers from a global network of service centres, helping manufacturers and growers transport their products to distributors and retailers. Combining superior technology, decades of experience and an unmatched asset base, CHEP handles pallet and container supply chain logistics for customers in the consumer goods, produce, meat, homew improvement, beverage, raw materials, petro-chemical and automotive industries.
CHEP wanted to further streamline and improve their Purchase to Pay process to achieve greater efficiency in the handling of purchase invoices, implement new tools, and to enhance business processes and existing practices. Invoices are currently handled in CHEP’s European FSSC in Madrid using Basware Invoice Processing integrated with SAP.
Having already achieved strong results from Basware Invoice Processing, CHEP want to improve process efficiency even further and improve invoice handling times within a scalable solution; leading to improved visibility of liabilities, greater productivity and improved supplier relationships. CHEP recognised that replacing paper invoices with e-invoices was the next step in achieving process efficiency, and selected Basware Connectivity Services to enable them to make the transition.
Basware Connectivity is a set of services which enables suppliers and buyers of all sizes and maturity to transact electronically. The service to be delivered includes Basware Scan and Capture services.
The Basware Connectivity services include the ability to deliver e-invoices and purchase messages with Basware Business Transactions, an outsourced Basware Scan and Capture solution to convert all paper invoice to electronic format, the ability for suppliers to key-in invoices, receive orders electronically, send order confirmations as well as upload and create electronic catalogues via Basware Supplier Portal and an outsourced Basware Supplier Activation service to communicate with the suppliers, assist and activate them to connect to the buyers’ purchase to pay process.
By receiving all their invoices electronically, and converting suppliers to true e-invoicing, CHEP hope to gain the following benefits:
Improved Efficiency – increased automation to enable greater productivity in the FSSC
Remove the paper ‘pain’ at source and migrate to e-invoice
Improve invoice cycle times
Ensure only 100% accurate financial data enters SAP
Scalable solution – system and processes that will grow with CHEP
"Basware Connectivity Services has in a short time become our fastest growing area. This agreement with CHEP further strengthens our position in the market and sees them joining other forward-thinking organisations like Aviva Investors, Lloydspharmacy, UPM and Veolia. Basware Connectivity service allows companies to handle purchase to pay processes online and to achieve fast return on investment,” says Dr. Matthew Lees, UK Managing Director.
